Well, I finally was able to get an iPhone 3gs. It took a while, and a small trip to Toronto, but I was finally able to pick one up.
I tried to get one from the local Futureshop here in Sudbury. I went to the store three times, and everytime I held the box in my hand, only to be denied. I have to be honest, the staff at FS was really nice, and the iPhone purchase fail was not their fault.
It all came down to their staff not being able to log into the Fido network to sign me up. I went in for three consecutive days, sadly with no success. Seeing as I was heading to Toronto for a day trip to meet with the guys at GetSetGames.com, I thought I would visit the Apple store.
All I have to say about the Apple store can be summed up in one word: satisfaction. I left there feeling good about my purchase. The staff is really responsive and they do a great job at meeting your needs. Service was fast, courteous, and for the most part it felt like I was buying something from a friend.
So the moral of this story is this: if you can get a product right from the source, it’s almost always a win.
